  The Reasons for Cart Witnessing

  whatever we think of it, you have to admit that it's quite "genius".. the door to door ministry as done in western developed countries where the jw quirky religion has probably reached their saturation level was a complete and utter waste of time in terms of the effort expended to recruit people.. at the same time, it was rarely something that anyone enjoyed which led to people being labelled as inactive, being pressured to doing more and maybe ultimately deciding jwism wasn't for them and leaving.. there was also the issue that many jws are actually pretty bad at knowing and articulating their beliefs so were pretty incapable of getting any meaningful message across.. they solved all this with the cart witnessing.

  the real point isn't to recruit, it's to make life easier for jws.

  now they can stand and chat with their friend, have a coffee, not talk to anyone or make eye contact and still act as a walking billboard for jw.org.

  Maybe that is the beauty of the carts - peer privileges that are only obtained if you become a pioneer. More pioneers - sell more carts - more inflated hours - WT gets to broadcast more hours spent in ministry - regular JW's believe all of it because there are more pioneers.

  Pioneers that were ready to give up - now can go to a park and relax - more bragging rights because they undoubtedly count time from the moment they drag the cart out/arrive at a park. Even if there are several others and they have to wait their turn - it's all good.

  My sister and her husband go to San Fran - they get to see the tourists. Maybe they even go around the sights - tho I wouldn't know because they don't talk with me.

  Watchtower contends the minute orders are irrelevant and therefore the request should be denied. We have not relied on the minute orders in our opinion, and we do not find the minute orders to be helpful in this case because, as Watchtower notes, the minute orders were not before the trial court in the instant case. (People v. Preslie (1977) 70 Cal.App.3d 486, 493 [denying judicial notice of documents not presented to the trial court].)

  However, J.W. relies upon the minute orders in making her argument to this court. For example, J.W. argues, “Watchtower is a repeat offender who has consistently flouted court orders to produce documents regarding its knowledge of child molestation . . . in multiple pending cases besides this case.” Because the minute orders are relevant to J.W.’s argument, we conclude they have some relevance.

  i can't say much out of fear of getting caught, but i overheard a jw i know on the phone with a friend talking about "how close we are to the end.

  " yeah, yeah, i know.

  we've been on the brink of armageddon for well over a century, but what struck me about this particular instance was what she said next.

  They used to do , what were they called? When they made a statement that was like a declaration. "We will not blah blah ... " And it made people think that it was a notice to the world. It felt like they were waving a post from God and his Organization that we were not a part of the world - so take that! That made everyone feel special and that things were moving along.

  They don't do that anymore. Must not have had much mileage out of it.

  Two witness rule: who cares?

  i find people railing against the so called “two witness rule” puzzling.

  i think its a complete and total non issue.

  for those that protest, argue or advocate for change in that rule, why?

  One of the problems with the two witness rule, is the adherence of the bibles explanation of what constitutes "two witnesses" The bible is all about two human witnesses.

  Certainly the person who is the victim is one and the other "witness" can be proof collected by the police.

  But I agree that the main flaw is the non reporting to the police.

  Commuter Bethelite video

  for those who missed last weeks clam meeting, there was a video played that was amazing ... however not in good way.. we are all aware how thousands of full time bethelites world wide got the boot and put out onto the street.

  some having giving most of their lives to the organization, but often with no real way to support themselves other than to depend on the generosity of others.

  so when this video talked about how special it would be for those who could step up and become a commuter bethelite, it made me think how calculating the governing body must be.

  That vid brought back bad memories of having to make up those householder talks. The majority of the women workers- did you notice that they simply classified their work as "many other jobs"? Why not say they are laundry workers, housekeepers?

  If you watch communist propaganda films, you can see all of their workers smiling and being "happy" just like the disposable bethelites.

  What would make an Ex-Jw go back to been a full in Baptized JW

  i was just wondering , why would my jw husband return to been a full blown baptized jw after 20 years of fading?.

  he has spent 20 years of his life been a worldly person , with a worldly wife & kids & worldly friends .... to joining the borg full time , to getting baptized , to getting new brothers & sisters .... and to writing off most of his worldly friends (some his known his whole life ) , to trying to convince me & our children how wonderful this org is ......and anyone else who will listen :(.

  has anyone ever experienced this ...... oh and he seems to be in it 110% and no-one can say anything about this crazy org or show him proof that it all bs...... his such a clever independent , successful guy , why on earth would he go back to this , after been out for so many years & change into this domineering , opinionated fool ..... oh and his entire family also went back ... father , mother , brother & sister .

  If Angels in the Bible are of neuter gender ? Then why are they always depicted as males by description and name ? And never a female ?

  in all of the art i`ve seen in christendom, angels always have the form of a male, and in the bible those that are named always have a male name such as michael ,gabriel , etc, .

  nowhere in the art world that i have seen do angels have the female form, and in the bible they don`t have female names.. so if the angels are neither male or female why then are they depicted as males with male names ?and not female also ?.

  the watchtower illustrators also follow this line .when they illustrate an angel it is always in the form of a male and never a female form.. the anointed who make up the 144000 comprise of male and females right ?

  Just reflecting on how oblivious I was to WT

  i’m just sitting by the beach and i was thinking at just how oblivious i was to the religion that i followed.

  i have mentioned this in past posts and am using this experience as an example not so much to demonstrate what happened but more of my reaction to it:.

  there was a kh in my local area that 5 years previous had internal renovations done it.

  Weren't we all like that? Maybe not everyone, but once you have it in mind that they would never do anything underhanded or deceitful, you aren't going to investigate your doubts. You'll just excuse them and think you are wrong in thinking them.
